Workshop options#

We offer multiple versions of this workshop depending on the learning objectives and time allotted.

What is Git & GitHub?#

Discussion based only, can be online or in person

  • In this 30 minute workshop participants will be introduced to what Git and Github are.

  • Watch this video before your session. Git vs. GitHub: What’s the difference?

    • While watching consider: Why might using GitHub be useful even if you are not working on a development team?

How to use GitHub#

Hands on workshop, can be online or in person

  • In this 60 minute workshop participants will be introduced to GitHub and how to create and edit online repositories.

  • Participants will need access to a computer.

  • This session incorporates content from What is Git & GitHub?

    • We will fork a repo or create a new repo, depending on the goals of the workshop.

How to use Git & GitHub#

Hands on workshop, in person only. In this workshop we will install software on your laptop/local machine

  • In this 2 hour + workshop participants will create a Git initialized folder on their local machine. They will create a Markdown file using an IDE (Integrated Development Environment) and upload a repository with that file to their Github account.

  • This workshop requires software installation on the participants laptop and familiarity with using the command line - Terminal (Mac/Linux) or Git bash (Windows PC)

  • Participants will need to bring a laptop, and they will need to be able to install software (administrative access.)
